The Big Read 21-Day Wellness Challenge

Join me at the Lewis and Clark Public Library Helena Branch for four Thursdays in October as we read “Lab Girl” by Hope Jahren and talk about our experience with the book and our own self-care journeys.

Thursdays, October 3, 10, 17, and 24 from 12:05 to 12:55 PM.

Hope's journey in "Lab Girl" explores how plants nurture themselves, but often describes a work schedule that leaves her unable to spend time nourishing herself. Hope describes a situation where finding work-life balance is complicated, a problem with which many readers identify. In this series of four meetings, we'll explore and discuss methods of self-directed wellness. Each session will start with an assessment of where we're at with self-care. The library will provide journals where you can explore the challenges. Each week we will come together to discuss our findings and relate them back to “Lab Girl.”

We'll share in the Facebook event when you will be able to pick up your journal at any library branch, and then join us on Thursdays at noon in October at the library in Helena! Follow the event on Facebook at: https://www.facebook.com/events/673602589811077/

Book Club

Join me at Montana Book Co. in Helena to meet and start discussing “Living Your Yoga,” by Judith Lasater. Books are available at Montana Book Co. We’ll get together again in September to discuss the same book, once you’ve had a chance to sit with it.

This is a great little companion for summer. You don’t have to read it cover to cover, and you don’t have to read it in order. It’s also fairly short, and filled with reflections on things like courage, compassion, fear, and letting go.

Learn to Live Your Yoga Workshop: Aparigraha

In the Learn to Live Your Yoga workshops we will be exploring one yama at a time. The yamas are the first of eight limbs of yoga, and they help us ask questions to live a more authentic life. Reflection on the yamas moves us towards a well-rounded yoga practice that supports us on in all of our endeavors-- they aren't meant to replace, but rather to bolster and help us examine, any other belief systems we hold. A discussion on the specific yama we will be working on that day will be followed by a flow-style yoga class inspired by the topic. The workshop will end with a guided journaling session to reflect on the practice.

Zen Bride Bootcamp

If you're in the middle of planning a wedding, you might notice all of the various media out in the world saying you should be "sweating for the wedding," and advertising strategies to get your body in great shape before the big day. But is this what's really important? When I was planning my wedding, I needed strategies and emotional support for dealing with all the ups and downs. This is the anti-bootcamp bootcamp-- your body looks great the way it does, and you're going to be beautiful on your wedding day. This is a series about emotional wellness, living yoga principles, and yoga-based strategies for dealing with stress, in addition to a physical flow yoga practice.

We'll meet for 5 weeks from 12:30 to 2:30 PM on Sunday afternoons. Head to www.dancinglotuscenter.com to reserve your spot.

Learning Chair Yoga

This series is an introduction to chair yoga. We will learn about all the ways we can use the chair as a prop for our practice, in both sitting and standing positions. If you’ve ever been interested in starting a yoga practice, but don’t like the idea of getting up and down off of the floor, this could be the way to do it! A chair is an excellent tool for both beginning and deepening a practice.

Each class will be an hour and fifteen minutes long, from 4:30 to 5:45 PM, for six weeks. Head to www.dancinglotuscenter.com to reserve your space in class.
